He tells of departing from his role in the army to travel, jetting between Canada and Cuba, and then eventually settling in Hollywood, California, where he initially took on work as a film extra before his acting career really took off.Niven shares stories on both the high points, such as winning an Academy Award, and the lows of his career such as attempting to take on roles in live theatre. Nonetheless he stresses that he learnt to act via practice and experience. He then discusses his hopes and ambitions for the future, ruling out any intention of imminent retirement, but plans to embark on more travel and holiday ventures.
