Jean Cris is the botanist – able to name and distinguish the 150 plants of the forest that the silkies eat, and many more besides. He’s also the expert tree climber, prepared to shin up any tree to gather the samples Erik needs for plant identification. But on the summit of Marojejy the same high canopy trees only grow knee high, but Jean Cris can still spot them.
