Golden Eagles

The magnificent Golden Eagle with its powerful build and a wingspan of over 2m is one of our largest birds of prey. For me this is also one of Scotland's most magestic and inspiring creatures. Long regarded as the king of birds. Golden eagles pair for the whole of their long lives and often fly together to signal their bond and territory. This amazing behaviour is known as talon locking is rairly seen let alone filmed. It happens when they want to see off an intruder. Golden eagles have huge territories, anything up to 30 sq miles. They have to patrol the patch and repel rivals. This pair are trying to see off a younger bird, possibly one of their own chicks. Even spotting a single eagle is exciting but to see 3 in action like this is quite exceptional.
