When something goes wrong in your life, an accident, loss or bad mistake, what happens when you get another roll of the dice?
Three variations on the theme of Second Chances: for the last thirty years, the acclaimed British photographer Nick Danziger has kept being drawn back to troubled places from Afghanistan to Bosnia, to meet people and document their lives. Fictional second chances in the latest novel by the Chinese-American author Gish Jen: do countries, as well as people, deserve another bite of the cherry? And joining us from California is Van Phillips, the American inventor whose revolutionary artificial leg design has given a new lease of life to both himself and countless other amputees world-wide.
Illustration by Emily Kasriel: second chances - another shot at life.
