Truancy is being targetted in a new government scheme offering incentives to local authorities which sort out so called "troubled families".
The scheme has also been designed to reward council's which reduce anti-social behaviour or benefit dependency in some households.
The Communities Secretary Eric Pickles says problem families have had it easy for too long.
