Episode Three: The Norman Yoke
Michael Wood tells the story of an Anglo-Saxon farmer called Breme who lived peacefully in the Suffolk countryside until 1066 when he was called up to fight against the Norman invasion. He was killed at the Battle of Hastings but unlike many ordinary people of that time, Breme is remembered to this day - nearly a thousand years after he fell on the battlefield.
