Is the cost of elderly care worrying your family?

JVS asks for your stories and opinions.

The phone-in at 9, 'Is the cost of elderly care worrying your family?'
The Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley, will today announce plans aimed at ending what many say is the scandal of older people being forced to sell their homes to pay for care. Critics say the reforms are meaningless if there's no new money to fund it. Nearly 20,000 people every year are forced to sell their homes to fund care home costs. The government is unveiling plans to allow pensioners to get a loan from their local counciL to cover the fees, so selling property immediately is not necessary. Mr Lansley, has also confirmed that in principle, the amount people pay for their long-term care should be capped. No indication on the level of that cap until late next year.

From 10, Aneta and Paul join JVS in the studio to discuss 'Is the UK welcoming to foreigners?'
