Man found guilty over Brandon drugs haul

A London man is found guilty of smuggling the largest haul of cocaine ever found in Suffolk. Officers discovered 174kg of the drug in a shipment of pineapples at a warehouse in Brandon last year.

In the news hour from 5pm, a man has been found guilty of conspiring to supply what's thought to be the largest haul of class A drugs ever found in Suffolk. Officers discovered the 174 kilograms of cocaine worth more than 拢34m hidden in a shipment of pineapples in a warehouse in Brandon in November last year. 56 year old Frederick Colverson from London had denied the charge but was found guilty by a jury at Ipswich Crown Court today. Our reporter Alison Acton speaks to Detective Inspector Benny Benford from Suffolk police.

The county's tourism chiefs are trying to tempt international journalists, in London to cover the Olympics, to see the sights of Suffolk. Visit East Anglia has invited around 200 representatives from the world's media to come up from the capital and see what we have to offer. Foz asks if this is too little too late. He speaks to travel agent James Easter and the Chief Executive of Visit East Anglia, Keith Brown.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance needs an extra 拢1.5m per year as they get ready to extend their hours of operation. At the moment the helicopters can only fly during the day but from September the charity will start flying from Cambridge at night. If the project is successful, they'll fly from Norwich also as early as next year. Foz hears more from the Chief Operations Officer for the EAAA, Steve Whitby.

In the first hour, one of Suffolk's most popular music pubs looks to have been saved from closure. The future of The Railway in Ipswich's Foxhall Road has been hanging in the balance and it was thought the departure of the current managers there this weekend would signal its demise. But rock promoter Daz Antenbring has stepped in and has already got some big names lined up to appear there. Daz pops in for a chat with Foz.

In the music hour after 6pm, Foz wishes Mick Jagger a happy birthday with plenty of quality music from the Rolling Stones. He also has Electra Live and In Session.
