People moving to the edge of the city
A look at the trend for more affluent families to move to the so-called 'edge cities' which surround LA. These modern, mixed land use developments offer respite from the problems which affect the city centre. 'Edge city' is an American term for developments on the perimeter of urban areas, with mixed office, retail, residential and leisure space. They tend to occur at motorway intersections. We hear the experiences of a family which has moved to Warner Centre Woodland Hills Complex, an edge city outside LA.
There is a trend for more affluent people to move out to the suburbs, leaving the poorer people behind in the city centre.
