Philip Ridley explains how he finds inspiration for his writing
Playwright and novelist Philip Ridley explores the inspiration and the importance of places in his writing. He takes us on a tour of Bethnal Green, in the East End of London, and explains the relevance of various locations to his novels and also to his stage plays. He then develops his thinking as he explains why he chose to write some of his creations as novels and some as playscripts. This is exemplified as various people explain what is different about a live performance. This is then followed by an animation explaining what is needed for a theatrical production. It gradually builds up a picture of a theatrical production, using all the elements required, such as a director, actors, lighting, and so on.
