Writing an information article
Vicki Butler-Henderson is a motoring journalist and racing driver, she describes how she works up a magazine article on how fit you need to be to race cars. She first interviews some fellow racers and a medical expert to gather some preliminary facts and figures for her article. She then 'roughs out' a plan, shaping the article into a first draft at home. When she begins to write her opening paragraph she explores how she can hook the reader by creating and sustaining a consistent voice, signposting quotations and using a variety of vocabulary.
