How was Britain changed by WW1?
As a result of their part in the war effort, women had convinced many men that they deserved to be treated more equally. However, Britain was no longer the rich country it had once been. The war had been paid for with borrowed money, and taxes rose sharply.
The trade union movement emerged from the war with greater influence, and showed its muscle with a series of strikes in the early 1920s.
