Why the Treaty of Versailles was unpopular in Germany
A brief description of German reasons for hating the Treaty of Versailles, including the loss of territory and people. The words of a German soldier who had believed that the Fourteen Points would be the basis for peace are quoted. When it did not come about, many believed that Friedrich Ebert had sold out, despite his limited options. An extract from Mein Kampf, in which Hitler says the war had all been in vain, also features.
