A look at how extremist parties attracted the unemployed in Germany between the two World Wars. The Nazis appeared to offer a new order and discipline, unity behind one leader and decisive government. The SA and SS offered discipline, and Nazi propaganda offered work and bread. The communists called for a peoples' revolution like the one in Russia in 1917, but this alienated businessmen and those who feared disorder and violence. Nazi propaganda techniques are demonstrated, including the use of posters and rallies. The result was that the Nazis became the largest party after the July 1932 Reichstag election.
