The effect of the 1991 riots on the Meadowell Estate in Northumbria
The Meadowell Estate to the east of Newcastle in Northumbria used to have a soaring crime rate. Empty properties and stolen cars made the area unattractive and criminals moved in. Riots broke out in 1991 and devastated the estate.
