Contrasting Morecambe with Torremolinos - latitude
Torremolinos and Morecambe are only a two-hour flight apart, yet their climates are very different. Morecambe used to be a thriving resort, but the introduction of cheap package holidays in the 1960s has contributed to its decline. The climates of the two coastal resorts differ because of latitude and air masses. Torremolinos is closer to the equator and enjoys breezes from warm tropical air masses. Morecambe is closer to the North Pole and is chilled by winds blowing from the arctic. With thanks to 'Clouds Hill Imaging Ltd'.
