Nick Clegg has announced that the Liberal Democrats are exploring plans which could mean wealthy pensioners losing their universal benefits. Benefits like bus passes, free TV licenses and the winter-fuel allowance are currently protected for all pensioners but only until the next general election in 2015. The plans would mean those pensioners with a net worth of more than 拢1million would lose the benefits.
