Two men face a total of four year's jail over brothels
Two people have been sentenced to a total of four years in jail after being found guilty of helping to run brothels. It follows a multi-force investigation across the East and South West.
In the news hour from 5pm, Suffolk Police say they're pleased with the sentences handed down today to two people involved in running brothels. 41 year-old Alexsander Sochacki from Baddow Road, Chelmsford, was jailed for three years. Aleksandra Bryll, who's 29 and from the same address, was sentenced to 12 months. After the case, Andrew Woodger spoke to Detective Superintendent Alan Caton, head of public protection at Suffolk Police.
The Health Protection Agency are urging pregnant women to get vaccinated against whooping cough. There's been a five fold increase in the number of people with the disease in Suffolk. Hamid Mahgoub is a Health Protection Medical Specialist at the Health Protection Agency covering Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. He tells Foz why this rise in cases of whooping cough has happened.
Nearly 2,000 empty houses across the East have been brought back into use, unlocking 拢3.8m of funds through the government's New Homes Bonus Scheme. 209 of those properties are in Ipswich. Foz gets more details from John Mowles, the borough councillor in charge of housing.
