Is it time to bring in pay as you drive?
The Dartford Crossing has gone up to 拢2 each way - HGVs will pay 拢5 from today. There is also another increase in the charges coming in April. Interesting timing then that the CBI comes out today in favour of further road charging and tolls. Would you be prepared to pay to use better maintained motorways and major A roads?
Why are they in favour of tolls - they want private companies to take over sections of our roads network. They say private money is essential because there is a 拢10bn shortfall in funding for Highways Agency projects. The CBI's Director General, John Cridland, says too much time and money is lost every day because our roads are so clogged up but that a lack of funding means the roads network can only improve if it is taken out of the Government's budget.
What is more important to you - roads free to use, or congestion-free roads that you have to pay for?
Also, would you welcome a Hollywood theme park in Kent?
Hollywood film giant Paramount wants to create 27,000 jobs with one of the world's biggest theme parks in north Kent.
Derelict land next to the Ebbsfleet International station has been chosen for the huge project, on the same scale "as Disney".
