Celebrating Purim in Jerusalem
An insight into contemporary Judaism, from the lively celebrations of Purim in Jerusalem to a discussion about the rights of Jews to settle on occupied land. Presenter Reverend Peter Owen-Jones visits Jerusalem to find out more about Judaism, and in particular its link with the Holy Land. He prays at the Western Wall, explains some of the origins of the monotheistic Jewish faith, and joins men in an Orthodox yeshiva as they celebrate Purim in an exuberant fashion. After explaining something of the origin of the state of Israel, a conversation with a Jewish Rabbi who has settled on occupied Palestinian land gives a personal, Jewish perspective on the relationship with the land.
