A pilgrimage to Walsingham, Norfolk
Legend has it that in 1061 a Saxon noblewoman in Walsingham had a vision of the Virgin Mary who told her to build a replica of the house where she and Joseph brought up Jesus. The village became known as England's Nazareth, and people still go on pilgrimage to this house today. There is a service called 'sprinkling' that takes place in Walsingham. People go to drink the water from an ancient well. This is believed to have healing properties.
