Addition and subtraction patterns - multiples of 10s
A song accompanies a Go Kart race. The numbers on the front of the Go Karts mirror the words of the song. They illustrate that the number of 10s in the answer to the sum 50-20 is the same as the single digits in the answer to 5-2. Other examples reinforce the message - if you know the answers to single digit sums, you can use this knowledge to help work out sums which use multiples of 10s.
