Jamie Theakston and Marcelle Duprey try to solve the mystery of why scarab beetles were buried with mummies. During their quest, they discover that Ancient Egyptians believed that the gods were responsible for nature. They held hundreds of gods in the highest regard and thought that the gods would bestow on them good luck. Karnak Temple in Luxor is dedicated to the gods. Using evidence from statues at the British Museum and in Karnak Temple itself, the presenters start to piece together details about the temple and the gods worshiped there, including Khepri. Pharaohs were go-betweens for the gods and the people. Pharaohs had lots of power and were the only people allowed in the inner sanctuary of the temple. Priests looked after the rest of the temple and ordinary people were not allowed to enter the temple at all.
