The diary of Mary Prince
Traders made millions of pounds from the sale of Africans into slavery. However, by the late 18th century, there was a growing level of concern about how the slaves were treated. After they were released, some decided to write books about their experiences, and the public were shocked to see just how they were treated. Mary Prince, a former black slave, tells the story of how slavery affected her life.
