Our 13-year-old guide Nikhil takes us on a tour of his home town Alappuzha in Kerala, Southern India. The area is known as 'The Backwaters' as it is below sea level. Water plays a very important part in the lives of local people, as the rivers are used as the main mode of transportation for people, livestock and crops.
