Flood defence - embankments in Bangladesh

A report about the use of embankments for flood defence in Bangladesh. The embankments were not just built as roads - they also help protect homes from floods. Whole villages are often built on top of embankments to stop them from flooding. Safe areas are created when water is directed away from homes using water gates.
