How nature inspired the design of the Velcro fastener
A look at how burrs found in nature inspired the development of the Velcro fastener. Burrs use little hooks to attach themselves to passing animals, enabling their seeds to be dispersed around the environment. The Velcro fastener works similarly, but one side has hooks and the other has loops so they can stick firmly together.
