Traditional climbing
Mike and Emma are traditional climbers. They explain what is involved and the enjoyment they gain from participating in the activity. There are two types of climbing - sports and traditional. Traditional climbing has higher risks because you must place all your own gear. You have to trust the gear you place due to the fact that it is attached to the rock. If the climber should fall, the gear will hopefully hold the climber. Climbers need ropes, a harness, a helmet for protection and rock boots for better grip. They also need a partner to belay - an essential technique in climbing. There must be trust in a partner, as the climber's safety is in their hands.
