Electricity produced by generators
Some houses in Britain cannot be connected to the mains electricity supply. Such houses have gas lamps, candles and heat from fires. Lundy Island is situated just off the Devon coast. An oil generator produces some electricity for the island, but the fuel is expensive so it is switched off every night at midnight.
