Different animals with shells
A report featuring a variety of animals with shells. Snails have a hard shell which protects them and helps keep them moist. The giant tortoise's shell is also used for protection. It has a honeycomb structure that makes it strong but light enough for the tortoise to carry. The shell of a turtle is flatter and smoother than the tortoise's. This helps it glide through the water. Some turtles let fish feed on debris stuck to their shells. Scallops move around by rapidly opening and closing their hinged shells.
