Yorkshire Dales - quarrying
Quarrying is a major land use in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The benefits to the area are through employment, use of local businesses and high rates paid to the local council. The limestone from Swinden Quarry (Tarmac Northern) is largely used to make high grade concrete products such as bridge beams and kerbs. The contribution such a company makes to the local economy is outlined.
