Social and economic issues facing South Africa

Despite problems of poverty and poor resources, it is possible for young black South Africans to go to university and enter the work force. But there are generations of unskilled older black South Africans who struggle to find work and must rely on charity support. Only casual work is available to them and the working conditions and pay are poor. Many have criticised the South African government for not creating more jobs but they have made progress towards achieving economic stability. The government has also improved housing conditions and services for many but faces a major issue in HIV and AIDS.
