Arthur Crickmay's dapper appearance
Lieutenant Arthur Crickmay joined the 5th Royal Tank Regiment at the outbreak of war. By the time his colleagues in the 5th tanks arrived in the desert, he was almost a ‘veteran’ at the tender age of just 26. He wrote that he considered himself to ‘have been a soldier all his life’ and the thought of the humdrum existence in an office, that he had once been destined for, now made him shudder.
