First transmitted in 1980, this documentary follows a journey taken on the Bluebell Line and introduces us to some of the people who run the trains and stations. They talk about their love of steam trains, how this pastime relates to and compares with their real jobs, and why they each prefer the specific tasks they carry out on the railway. More about this programmeThe Bluebell Line was the UK's first preserved standard-gauge passenger railway, reopening part of the Lewes to East Grinstead route in 1960. Since then, it has become one of the largest tourist attractions in Sussex and is also very popular as a TV and film location. One movie in which it features is 'Miss Potter', starring Renee Zellweger as Beatrix Potter, in which the station at Horsted Keynes represents Euston.
