Celebrated Swiss architect Peter Zumthor talks about designing buildings with integrity.
Nadeem Aslam's novel The Blind Man's Garden is set in Pakistan and Afghanistan in the months following 9/11. Foster-brothers Jeo and Mikal leave their home in Pakistan to enter Afghanistan clandestinely and care for wounded civilians, but their good intentions can't keep them out of harm's way.
This year's winner of the RIBA Royal Gold Medal for Architecture is the Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. Known for creating highly atmospheric spaces through use of light and choice of materials, his most celebrated projects include the Kunsthaus Bregenz in Austria, the Therme Vals in Vals, Switzerland and the Kolumba Art Museum in Cologne.
