This week the programme for the stylish home dressmaker tackles the tricky issue of making a well-fitted suit. Ann Ladbury gives her usual practical guide on how to get the best out of your pattern before fashion commentator David Bond explains how to bring the suit bang up to date with the right accessories and the correct skirt length. The problem of how to wear trousers is also dealt with, although this particular look is thought to be better suited to slim people. (1969)

Did You Know?
Each year since 1963 the Fashion Museum in Bath has asked an expert to select an outfit to represent the most important new ideas in contemporary fashion. An orange, yellow and purple striped cotton trouser suit designed by David Bond was selected as the 'dress of the year' in 1967. These outfits now form the museum's 'Dress of the Year' collection.
