Bipolar Disorder
Welsh actor Boyd Clack discusses current Welsh statistics on bipolar disorders and the use of sectioning. Walden Jones from the charity 'Hafal' is interviewed on the need for better services and hopes that the introduction of a new Mental Health Act in Wales will lessen the need for the use of sectioning of patients - a sanction which is expensive for the community and the government. He discusses current levels of mental health provision seeing an increasing need for interservice coordination. He hopes that the introduction of a Code of Practice for Mental Health will improve things and that the new legislation will lead to more rights for patients and a lower likelihood of the use of restrictive care for mental health sufferers in Wales. He emphasises that this will need greater resources to be fed into the sector.
