Living on Benefits
Laura says that looking after Dylan on 拢40 a week is very difficult. She has received a letter from the CSA stating that Dylan's father is required to pay 拢5 out of his benefits cheque towards Dylan. This is because he has denied a DNA test to prove that he is not the father. 拢5 a week is not much and anyway Laura will not be better off as the money will now be deducted from her benefits. She says that she did not consider the consequences of unprotected sex. She would like for Dylan to be in contact with his father if possible which is why she is sending a letter to Dylan's grandmother. If they reject her Laura says that 'I will be out in the cold, just me and Dylan and nobody else which will be quite hard.' Also she dreads having to explain this to Dylan in the future.
