Majority of struck-off doctors have been trained abroad

Foreign doctors in the UK are facing tougher assessments after recent figures reveal a high number of doctors disciplined, are from abroad.
In the last five years, 63 per cent of doctors struck off or suspended by the General Medical Council (GMC) were trained overseas.
But they only make up 36 per cent of doctors on the medical register.
Nial Dickson, Chief Executive of the GMC said: 'We absolutely acknowledge that when it comes to the serious end of the scale, those from overseas are more likely to appear, and we have set about a series of reforms to address this.'

On 大象传媒 Radio Manchester and Lancashire鈥檚 Indus show Talat-Farooq Awan spoke to Dr Romesh Mehta , the President of BAPIO (British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) who first told him that he feels there鈥檚 institutional racism going on in the health service.
