Mummies' arteries - Four years ago heart specialists looked at ancient mummies when they saw that one pharaoh had hardening of the arteries known as atherosclerosis. They scanned the mummies to study whether this disease was present in ancient Egyptians. They found that many mummies did have the signs of disease. So was an unhealthy lifestyle causing their problems or was atherosclerosis a more democratic disease?
