The 1839 Chartist Rising in Newport
Counties of Wales: an overview of the events of the Chartist rising in Newport in 1839, a revolt which led to 22 deaths. The three leaders, Frost, Williams and Jones were sentenced to death but the sentences were later commuted to transportation to Tasmania.
