Sylhet to Rochdale: British Bangladeshis explore their roots
Young people of Bangladeshi heritage in Rochdale are being taught about their roots following the launch of a new project in the town. The Sylhet to Rochdale initiative is a program aiming to get youngsters engaging with the first generation Bangladeshi community.
The call to learn more about their heritage came from young people in the town themselves. Those involved in the project say that by learning about history and heritage young people can also learn essential skills along the way.
Mohammed Dobir Miah is the project coordinator at The Rochdale Bangladeshi Partnership Project and he joined Nasser Hanif in the studio on the Indus show on 大象传媒 Radio Manchester and Lancashire.
