A growing number of people are sectioned under the mental health act in this country every year. Dr Chetna Kang and Toby Friedner hear from local people about their experience of being sectioned.

Is being sectioned a blessing or a curse?

Nearly 49,000 people were sectioned and detained in hospital under the mental health act during 2011/12.

This figure has been slowly rising over the last five years.

Today we look at what it means to be sectioned, who gets sectioned and why and we'll be hearing from local people who have been through it.
