Hazaras, Hatred and Pakistan
Anti-Shia violence against Pakistan's Hazara minority raises growing concerns for security in the city of Quetta.
The Pakistani city of Quetta has become host to regional violence between Sunni militants and the local ethnic Hazara community who are Shia. In January this year Pakistan witnessed its bloodiest day in recent history, when over 100 people lost their lives in twin bombings in the city. The Sunni militant group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claimed responsibility for the attacks.
For Assignment Mobeen Azhar retraces the story of the bombings, listens to the growing security concerns of the Hazara in Quetta and asks what lies at the root of the violence.
