Ruth Madoc discovers she's related to David Lloyd George
Ruth is best known for playing Gladys Pugh in ‘80s hit comedy Hi-de-hi!
Here she makes an emotional journey to uncover her Welsh ancestry, but nothing prepared her for the news that she's related to one of the biggest names in Welsh history – David Lloyd George - a former Prime Minister of Britain.
Born Ruth Baker, 16 April 1943, she was brought up in the coal mining community of Llansamlet near Swansea by her beloved grandmother, Etta George. Ruth Madoc’s surname comes from her marriage to her late husband, actor Phillip Madoc.
