Odd and even numbers
Star and Hutch need to work out which of a set of three-digit numbers are even to find the magic combination for a safe. To do this, all they need to do is look at the unit digit. If the unit digit is even, then the whole number is even.
Having worked through a series of numbers, Star and Hutch find the magic combination, the clue inside the safe is a pair of shoes. This takes them to a bouncy castle where they are able to count the shoes, belonging to the children on the castle, in twos.
The practical everyday situation helps to provide a reason for counting in twos as well as making maths fun.
