Adding three numbers - problem-solving
An ant needs to work out if there is enough space to house 29 ants in 3 houses. A friend suggests she counts how many ants can go into each house to see if there is the right number of spaces. The spaces are counted - there are 13, 7 and 9. On a notepad, the ant adds 13 and 7 to make 20, then adds the 9 to make 29 - so there are enough spaces.
