The invention of the telephone and how it changed society
Michael Mosley, Cassie Newland and Mark Miodownik from the 大象传媒 series 'The Genius of Invention' describe the scientific achievements of Alexander Graham Bell. Following the telegraph the race was on to turn speech into an electrical signal.
In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell did so and patented the first telephone. An animation is used to show how electromagnets are used in this invention. The social reasons behind the slow adoption of this invention into society are discussed.
