Croatia and Poland
As Croatia prepares to join the EU, is nationalism on the rise there? And Warsaw’s complex property market – who really owns what?
Croatia is poised to become the European Union's newest member. One of the conditions of EU entry was to signal its intention to guarantee the rights of its biggest minority - Serbs. But as Andy Hosken has discovered, the campaign to eradicate old ethnic hostilities has achieved only limited success.
And Warsaw’s complex property market. Who really owns what? It sounds a simple enough question, but for some in Poland's capital city it's a tough one to answer. The Nazis oversaw the confiscation of property from the country's Jewish population, and then under Soviet occupation those same homes became state property. Lila Allen visits one of the thousands of properties in dispute.
