Edinburgh Zoo: The penguin parade
Animal registrar and former bird keeper, Lynda Burrill describes how the accidental escape of penguins spawned the traditional penguin parade at Edinburgh Zoo. We see archive of the the penguin parade from the 1950s and sixties to the present day. Gentoo, rock hopper and king penguins wandering around Edinburgh zoo to the beat of 'funky penguin'.
Remarkable footage from the 1960s of the king penguins leaving the zoo to walk along Corstorphine road and into the heart of Edinburgh streets complete with police escort.
